Originating from the mountains and plateaus of North Africa, the Aïdi, also known as the Atlas Shepherd, is an ancient breed. Primarily found in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, it is also present in Algeria and Tunisia. Contrary to what its name suggests, this dog is not a herding dog but a formidable guardian, protecting nomads and their belongings from predators with courage and vigilance.

The Atlas Shepherd is a powerful, muscular, and robust dog, but without excessive heaviness. Its thick coat protects it from harsh climates and injuries during fights with predators. Loyal and faithful, it develops a strong bond with its family but remains wary of strangers, thanks to its natural protective instinct.  

He is a companion who does not back down in the face of danger, analyzing each situation carefully.
