Originating from Yorkshire, England, the Airedale Terrier is a versatile breed developed in the 19th century for hunting otters and rats. Resulting from crosses between the Otterhound, the Old English Black, and the Bull Terrier, it earns its nickname "King of Terriers" due to its exceptional flair, courage, and determination. These qualities have also made it a valuable ally to the British and Russian armies in various missions.

The Airedale Terrier is energetic, intelligent, and sociable. He loves to be active and is always ready for a play session or a long walk. He is an affectionate and playful companion, but requires firm training to channel his boundless energy and dominant personality.  

He adapts well to apartment living if his exercise needs are met, but he is fundamentally a country dog.
