🐾 History
Originating from the mountainous region of Serra de Aires in Portugal, the Cão Da Serra De Aires has long been the faithful ally of local shepherds. Primarily used for guarding and herding livestock in Alentejo, this robust and intelligent dog has been refined through crossbreeding with breeds such as the German Shepherd and Belgian Shepherd. However, the modernization of agriculture nearly led to the extinction of this breed in the 1960s. Thanks to preservation efforts, the Portuguese Shepherd continues to embody the spirit of hard work and loyalty.
