Cane Corso Italiano (or Branchiero Siciliano, Italian Courtyard Dog, Italian Corso Dog)

 🐾 History

Originating from Italy, the Cane Corso Italiano finds its roots in antiquity. Descending from Roman Molossers, this powerful dog initially served as a war dog and protector of livestock. Also used for hunting large game, such as wild boar, the Cane Corso has adapted to various roles over the centuries, becoming a loyal and versatile guardian. The breed nearly disappeared in the 20th century, but thanks to the efforts of enthusiasts, it has been saved and is now recognized as a prized companion and guard dog.
