The Porcelaine is a very ancient breed of dog originating from Franche-Comté, France. It is also known by the names Briquet Franc-comtois and Lunéville Dog. Descended from the White Dogs of Roy, this breed nearly disappeared during the French Revolution, but thanks to the determination of enthusiasts, it was preserved and developed through crossbreeding with breeds like the Billy and the Grand Gascon Saintongeois. In the 19th century, the breed experienced a resurgence, becoming a hunting dog appreciated for its hunting qualities.
