A majestic and powerful guardian, straight from the heights of the Himalayas.
🏞 History
The Tibetan Mastiff is an ancient breed, used since antiquity by nomadic shepherds of the Himalayas to protect their flocks and by Tibetan monks to guard monasteries. Aristotle and Marco Polo even mentioned this impressive dog in their accounts. The first Do-Khyi arrived in Europe in 1847, gifted to Queen Victoria by Lord Hardinge, the Viceroy of India. A few decades later, the breed continued to intrigue Europeans, with litters recorded at the Berlin Zoo and other specimens introduced to England by the Prince of Wales.
