🐾 History
The French Pointer - Pyrenees Type is one of the two branches of the French Pointer breed, the other being the Gascony Type. As its name suggests, this variant comes from the Pyrenees region, a mountain range located on the border between France and Spain. This dog originates from mountainous areas and has traditionally been used for hunting in difficult terrain conditions.
Just like the French Pointer - Gascony Type, the Pyrenees Type is a pointing hunting dog, used for searching and pointing game, particularly feathered game such as pheasants or partridges. This variety is particularly valued for its ability to work in steep terrain, with great endurance and an exceptional flair for locating game.
French Pointers have always been considered versatile dogs, and the Pyrenees Type is no exception. Although it is rarer than the Gascony Type, it is highly appreciated by hunters and working dog enthusiasts.
