The Azawakh Hound is an ancient breed, historically used for hunting and protection against predators such as hyenas, jackals, and even lions. Traditionally associated with the Tuareg, Fulani, and Dahoussahq nomads in the Saharan and Sahelian regions, it has accompanied these peoples through difficult terrains. It was also known as Oska among the Tuareg. Introduced to Europe in the 1960s, the Azawakh Hound was officially recognized by the FCI in 1980.

The Azawakh is an elegant, agile, and independent dog. Although it is gentle and affectionate with its owners, it is also a skilled hunter and a natural guardian. This dog, with a strong character, requires an owner who can provide it with a spacious living environment and plenty of physical activities.
